What is dental bonding?

Dental bonding, or tooth bonding, involves applying a paste to your teeth which is then sculpted into shape, hardened, and polished. We use porcelain, so the result is teeth which look natural and alive.

What is the difference between dental bonding and porcelain veneers?

They both solve many of the same problems. Porcelain veneers are a thin shell of porcelain which is bonded to the front of your teeth. Bonding is sculpted in place, and requires less of your original tooth for support. We can replace up to half of a tooth with bonding.

What kind of problems can dental bonding solve?

Bonding can build up missing areas, cover discoloration, and correct the appearance of misshapen teeth. It provides a strong protective coating which prevents future decay and damage and relieves pain and sensitivity. Bonding can solve many dental problems including:

• Chips
• Cracks and fractures
• Small gaps
• Broken teeth
• Discoloration

Will dental bonding make my teeth feel bulky?

No. We will sculpt and polish the porcelain to match the shape of your natural teeth.

Will dental bonding be visible?

No. The porcelain is perfectly color matched to your natural teeth. Porcelain reacts with light in the same way as real tooth enamel, so it looks real and alive. The effect is seamless.

Does dental bonding stain easily?

No. It will be polished to a glass-like surface. Porcelain is very resistant to staining.

Are there alternatives to dental bonding?

Yes. Depending on your needs, porcelain veneers may be more appropriate. For large areas of damage or if you tooth is weak, a dental crown may be a better solution for you.
